Soccer Game Preview: Cypress Park vs. Waller

The Cypress Park Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Waller Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cypress Park took on Cypress Woods on Tuesday. Cypress Park lost 6-0 to Cypress Woods. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Wildcats are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, Waller had to endure a 17-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Cypress Springs 1-0 on Tuesday.

Cypress Park has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. Waller's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-12 and their overall record up to 3-17.

Cypress Park was able to grind out a solid win over Waller when the teams last played back in February, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Park since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
