The Centennial Eagles will square off against the Dwyer Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Centennial's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Dwyer has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over Central on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won seven in a row.
Lauralei Wetherall was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Another player making a difference was Myrna Pratt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dwyer not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 9-1). Everything went their way against Jupiter as they made off with a 9-1 victory.
Haylee Taylor was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Taylor was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Alyssa Dover was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season. Ava Pratt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Centennial's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Dwyer, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Dwyer's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dwyer, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Centennial keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Everything went Centennial's way against Dwyer in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Centennial made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
