Softball Game Preview: Neoga Indians vs. Tuscola Warriors

Neoga is 0-4 against Tuscola since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Indians will face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Neoga's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Altamont on Monday. Neoga has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hannah Propst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Tuscola had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Kinzie Cleland's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Boyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bella Wishard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

Tuscola's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Neoga, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Neoga might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Tuscola when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
