Softball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Academy Makes It Three in a Row at Home

With a playoff win on the line, Cornerstone Charter Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They never let the Windermere Prep Lakers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Ducks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jaelyn Phillips and Bailey Copeland did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Copeland went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Copeland has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Hancock, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Windermere Prep, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.

Looking ahead, Cornerstone Charter Academy will challenge Montverde Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Ducks surely won't give up without a fight. Windermere Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
