Softball Recap: Hastings' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hastings had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Ionia Bulldogs with a sharp 11-4 win on Thursday. The Saxons' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

Kylee Bosworth made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Bosworth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bosworth wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Brown a new career-high.

Hastings' victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Ionia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hastings will head out to take on Forest Hills Central at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.47 runs per game on average), something the Saxons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ionia, they will head out on the road to square off against Lansing Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
