Volleyball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Spartans vs. Muscatine Muskies

Pleasant Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Muscatine since August of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Muskies at 6:30 p.m. Muscatine took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pleasant Valley, who comes in off a win.

Pleasant Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Assumption, who was ranked sixth at the time (Pleasant Valley was ranked ninth). The Spartans walked away with a 3-1 win over the Knights on Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Muscatine came up short against Clinton on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Muskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Muscatine's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Pleasant Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.

Everything went Pleasant Valley's way against Muscatine in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Pleasant Valley made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
