Softball Recap: Wawasee Comes Up Short

Wawasee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goshen RedHawks. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the RedHawks earlier this season, when they won 11-4.

Melissa Bontrager was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abbagail Willey, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Wawasee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Goshen, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-16 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wawasee will host Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goshen, they will be playing at home against NorthWood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The RedHawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
