Basketball Recap: Plantation Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Plantation was riding high fresh off their 90-12 takedown of Hollywood Hills last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Plantation Colonels took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Broward Bobcats on Thursday. The Colonels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Broward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Martinez, who went 6 for 15 en route to 27 points and seven rebounds. Martinez's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bedirhan Menguc, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Plantation's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14. As for West Broward, their record is now 6-12.

The future could be bright for both Plantation and West Broward: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Plantation will try to hand Hollywood Hills their 14th-straight loss when the two meet on Monday. Meanwhile, West Broward will look to extend Piper's four-game losing streak when the meet on Monday.
