Softball Recap: Plymouth's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Plymouth can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warsaw Tigers, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pilgrims/Rockies have posted since April 15th.

Gracie Patrick made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Haylee Busse was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kyndall Marcum was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Plymouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

The win got Plymouth back to even at 9-9. As for Warsaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Plymouth will face off against rival Mishawaka at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for the Pilgrims/Rockies: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Cavemen have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. Meanwhile, Warsaw is set to take on their familiar foe NorthWood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
