Softball Recap: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Westlake Demons
Holy Name was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Westlake Demons by a score of 13-10. The victory continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won six in a row.
Holy Name got a great performance from Reagan Vavro as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Vavro has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Holy Name let Aubrey Stephens and Anna Soos run wild. Stephens got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one run, while Soos scored three runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Posa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Holy Name hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
