Baseball Game Preview: Schalmont Sabres vs. Lansingburgh Knights

The Schalmont Sabres will venture away from home to face off against the Lansingburgh Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Schalmont has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Lansingburgh will come in with four straight victories.

Schalmont came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mohonasen by a score of 6-4 on Friday.

Logan Mulyca made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Iovinella, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Lansingburgh didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Schenectady by a score of 7-3 on Friday.

Lansingburgh's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average this season. As for Schalmont, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Everything went Schalmont's way against Lansingburgh in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Schalmont made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabres since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
