Basketball Recap: Harlandale Takes a Loss

Harlandale suffered their biggest loss since November 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by the MacArthur Brahmas 68-39. The Indians have struggled against the Brahmas recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Harlandale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Julia Barajas, who posted 21 points and three steals, and Adelaide Rios, who put up eight points. Barajas continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Faith Thomas went supernova for MacArthur, going 11 of 17 on her way to 27 points. That's the most points Thomas has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lee, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Harlandale's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for MacArthur, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Winn the next time they take the court. MacArthur will host Winn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Harlandale will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th.
