After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arvada West, Northfield was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Denver East Angels 3-2. For the Nighthawks, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Angels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Northfield who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 24-26, 15-10.

Emma Keuler paced Northfield's offense, picking up 20 kills. Keuler got some help from Kandice Kountz and her 37 assists. Keuler also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ellie Weaver, each putting up three.

Northfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Denver East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Northfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Bear Creek on the 27th. As for Denver East, they will square off against Vista PEAK Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
