Basketball Recap: Progreso Comes Up Short

Progreso was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks. The Red Ants were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 49-20.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 4-23. As for IDEA Weslaco Pike, their win bumped their record up to 4-16.

Coming up, Progreso will challenge IDEA Frontier College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Progreso will be up against IDEA Frontier College Prep's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for IDEA Weslaco Pike, they will head out to face off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
