Softball Recap: Petaluma Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Petaluma had won five straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 15-6 to make it six. They put the hurt on the Sonoma Valley Dragons with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Lily Pardini made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Taylor Pellonari was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Lauren Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Sonoma Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14. They have struggled against Petaluma recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

On Sonoma Valley's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Rhodd, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Rhodd's first of the season.

Coming up, Petaluma will face off against Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Sonoma Valley, they will take on San Rafael at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight.
