Softball Recap: University City Triumphs

University City hadn't done well against Grossmont recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The University City Centurions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Grossmont Foothillers a 6-0 shutout. For the Centurions, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 victory the Foothillers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Kendal Torgeson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Ingrid Peters was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

University City now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Grossmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2-1.

Looking ahead, University City will take on Brawley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grossmont, they will face off against Valhalla at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
