Softball Recap: Rain Red Raiders vs. Elberta Warriors
Rain had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-16-1 to make it seven. They lost 23-0 to the Elberta Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 21-5 defeat back in March.
As for Elberta, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-23-1. Considering they have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Elberta's part, Madison Willis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Willis posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Ava Jennings was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Potter, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Rain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elberta, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-2 victory against UMS-Wright Prep on the 29th.
