Softball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Wins Going Away Against East Mecklenburg

Charlotte Catholic never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the East Mecklenburg Eagles. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rachel Wildman made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Madden Glossner and Evi Hoefling did most of the damage at the plate: Glossner scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hoefling scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Hoefling has posted since back in April of 2024.

Charlotte Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Charlotte Catholic and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for East Mecklenburg, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Charlotte Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Fort Mill on the 26th. As for East Mecklenburg, they have also already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Providence on the 25th.
