Basketball Recap: Amistad Victorious

If Bassick wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Amistad, they should've done a better job of containing Takki Oliver. The Amistad Wolves secured a 56-51 W over the Bassick Lions on Tuesday thanks in part to Oliver, who posted 20 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Eddie Edwards, who earned nine points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Amistad is 3-1 when Edwards posts five or more steals, but 4-8 otherwise.

Amistad's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bassick, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amistad will challenge Amity Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bassick, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
