Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast Comes Up Short

Richland Northeast lost against Westwood last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers fell to the Westwood Redhawks 47-42. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Redhawks are ranked second).

Despite the loss, Richland Northeast still got an impressive performance from Joshua Nunn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Richland Northeast is 2-1 when Nunn posts ten or more boards, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Ard, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Aj Veal had a dynamite game for Westwood, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. D'Marcus Thomas was another key player, putting up eight points.

Richland Northeast's record now sits at 2-5. As for Westwood, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Richland Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-34 loss against Columbia on the 14th. As for Westwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 88-44 win against Summerville on the 17th.
