With a playoff win on the line, Cardinal Newman rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-13 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won eight matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jyron Hughley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 158 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, while also throwing for 100 yards while completing 85.7% of his passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Janarro Sumpter was another key player, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries.
