Baseball Recap: Glen Rock Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Glen Rock dropped their record down to 12-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They fell 7-2 to the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Glen Rock got a good showing from Luca Ronquillo, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ronquillo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Glen Rock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Lagemann, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for St. Joseph Regional, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On St. Joseph Regional's side, Matthew Tomassi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, St. Joseph Regional let Ryan McCabe and Kevin Comblo run wild. McCabe went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Comblo went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Comblo a new career-high. Myles Gomez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glen Rock will take on Butler at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Joseph Regional, they will face off against Bergen Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
