Baseball Recap: Dublin Starts off Right with Win over Irvington

Dublin had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Irvington Vikings on Saturday, sneaking past 2-1. The Gaels have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Andrew Zorinich tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Dublin's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kolby Breining, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dublin will square off against Deer Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Irvington, they will face off against California at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
