Recap: Palma Chieftains vs. Mission Oak Hawks
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Palma Chieftains had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 42-19 win. The win was familiar territory for Palma who now have six in a row.
Palma found their leader in underclassman Eli Dukes, who rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns. Those four rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Nunes, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Despite the loss, Mission Oak still got an impressive performance from Daniel Gonzalez, who threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Palma is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Mission Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Palma does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mission Oak also has no future games currently scheduled.
