Baseball Recap: Olive Branch Comes Up Short

Olive Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Panola Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Tuesday.

Marcus Jamison was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Jamison is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Derion Harden was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Olive Branch now has a losing record of 10-11. As for South Panola, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-8.

Coincidentally, Olive Branch and South Panola will both be playing Lake Cormorant the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face Lake Cormorant at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Conquistadors will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
