The Onaga Buffaloes will challenge the Valley Heights Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Onaga is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Onaga took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Centralia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Buffaloes had just enough and edged out the Panthers 9-8 on Monday.

Addison DeChant and Marissa Sauvage did most of the damage at the plate: DeChant scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Sauvage went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Sauvage hit this season. Another player making a difference was Abbie Ringel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Valley Heights came up short against Marysville on Friday, falling 12-2. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Paige Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Krista Porter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Onaga is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Onaga's way against Valley Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Onaga made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Buffaloes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
