Baseball Game Preview: Round Valley Elks vs. Pinon Eagles

Round Valley has gone a perfect 8-0 against Pinon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Round Valley will host Pinon at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Round Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Pima on Saturday. Round Valley blew past Pima 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lane Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hill was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brody Crick was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was JJ Logan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Pinon hadn't done well against Ganado recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Pinon came out on top in a nail-biter against Ganado, sneaking past 9-8.

Pinon pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Round Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Round Valley took their win against Pinon when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 32-2. Does Round Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pinon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
