Basketball Recap: Hollins Comes Up Short

Hollins played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Largo Packers, falling 49-25. The Royals have struggled against the Packers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hollins still got an impressive performance from Cecilia Tith, who posted two points and 13 rebounds.

Largo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ana Leka led the charge by putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Leka also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Laiana McClinton was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Hollins' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Largo, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4.

Hollins wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-41 defeat against Clearwater Central Catholic on the 18th. As for Largo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-38 win against Northeast on the 13th.
