Basketball Recap: Tygarts Valley Falls Short of East Hardy in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tygarts Valley can now relate to. They fell 42-32 to the East Hardy Cougars on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-35 back in February.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Summer Lewis-Smith, who posted six points and ten boards. Lewis-Smith has become a key player for Tygarts Valley: the team is 7-3 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 5-7 otherwise.

Brooklynn Tinnell was her usual excellent self, putting up 25 points and five steals for East Hardy. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Tinnell has scored at least a third of East Hardy's points. Brooklyn Miller was another key player, posting seven points in addition to ten boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Tygarts Valley and nudges their season record down to 12-10. As for East Hardy, they moved to 10-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Tygarts Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Hardy, they will face off against Tucker County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
