Baseball Recap: Niles Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Niles Notre Dame extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-5-1 in the process. They lost 10-4 to the Marist RedHawks. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the RedHawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Niles Notre Dame saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tony Szwedo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Michael Keany also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Marist, their record now sits at 6-7. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Marist's side, the team relied heavily on Charlie Dunneback, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Dunneback a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Hosty, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Niles Notre Dame had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
