Basketball Game Preview: Rootstown Rovers vs. Smithville Smithies

The Rootstown Rovers will square off against the Smithville Smithies at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rootstown is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 15 games.

Rootstown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Canton Central Catholic by a score of 67-55.

Columbia typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Smithville proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Raiders with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. The win was familiar territory for the Smithies, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Rootstown, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-1.

Rootstown beat Smithville 47-34 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rootstown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
