Baseball Recap: Tell City Find Success

While Tell City put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Springs Valley. The Marksmen came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blackhawks, sneaking past 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Marksmen, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Jack Hammond's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Riley Leinenbach was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Tell City and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Springs Valley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tell City will welcome Mt. Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Marksmen are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Springs Valley, they will be playing at home against Perry Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
