Softball Recap: Port St. Lucie Drops Highest Score of Season Against Berean Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port St. Lucie). They walked away with a 24-21 win over the Berean Christian Bulldogs on Friday. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mirelis Benito was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Torres, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-6.

Port St. Lucie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .561. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Port St. Lucie's victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1. As for Berean Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie will venture away from home to challenge South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Port St. Lucie's pitchers better be ready for this one: South Fork has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Berean Christian, they will head out to take on Morningside Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berean Christian will need to watch out since Morningside Academy has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
