Basketball Recap: Tyler Paulsen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cedar Bluffs

Winside won the last time they faced Cedar Bluffs and things went their way on Thursday too. Winside came out on top against Cedar Bluffs by a score of 57-46.

Winside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Paulsen, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Those 19 points gave Paulsen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Offner, who went 8-for-10 on his way to 16 points and eight boards.

Despite the defeat, Cedar Bluffs saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dawson Novotny went 8-for-19 en route to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Eiring, who posted 12 points.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-20. As for Cedar Bluffs, they dropped their record down to 5-17 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Winside is facing Randolph at the right time seeing as Randolph is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cedar Bluffs, they will challenge Howells-Dodge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howells-Dodge will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Cedar Bluffs surely won't give up without a fight.
