Baseball Recap: Lincoln Academy Takes a Loss

Lincoln Academy had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it six. They came up short against Mt. Ararat, falling 16-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lincoln Academy of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.

As for Mt. Ararat, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. That 15-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Mt. Ararat's part, Warren Graybill looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Hiltz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jake Morrell, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Lincoln Academy will head out on the road to challenge Belfast at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Ararat, they will venture away from home to take on Morse at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Shipbuilders have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
