Softball Recap: Kaiser Cats vs. Sultana Sultans
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Los Osos, Kaiser was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Sultana Sultans with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cats as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak.
Vanessa Contreras spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jessica Haro and Alyssa Montoya did most of the damage at the plate: Haro scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Montoya scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Haro also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Retana, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Kaiser's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Sultana, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.
Looking ahead, Kaiser will host Burbank at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sultana, they will face off against Norwalk at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
