Baseball Recap: Hughson's Winning Streak Snapped at 13 Games

It was a good run, but Hughson unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Hilmar Yellowjackets by a score of 7-6. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Beau Blake was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bryce McDaniel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hughson's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 19-3. As for Hilmar, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

While Hughson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
