Softball Game Preview: Wells Pirates vs. Apple Springs Eagles

For the second straight game, Wells will face off against Apple Springs. The Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Wednesday, Wells didn't have quite enough to beat Apple Springs and fell 7-6.

For Apple Springs' part, Faith Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 13 hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Jade Aycock was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Davis, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Wells dropped their record down to 2-10-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Apple Springs, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.
