Jack Stoudnour was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Clark, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camden Chilcote, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when McConnellsburg and Northern Bedford County meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-2.
Kohen Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, McConnellsburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kade Gress, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Tussey Mountain now has a winning record of 10-9. As for McConnellsburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Tussey Mountain might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from McConnellsburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024.
