Basketball Recap: Buckhorn Comes Up Short

If Buckhorn was feeling good fresh off their 71-39 takedown of Lee last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Buckhorn Bucks took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alcoa Tornadoes. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bucks came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 18th in Alabama, while the Tornadoes are ranked 68th in Tennessee).

Buckhorn's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Alcoa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Buckhorn will have a chance to keep the ball rolling against Boyd County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday following yesterday's win. One thing working in Boyd County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Alcoa, they will head out on the road to face off against Maryville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alcoa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
