Softball Recap: Marshall Redhawks vs. Northwest Mounties

Marshall was the 21-7 winner over Northwest when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Marshall Redhawks lost 15-9 to the Northwest Mounties on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that Marshall let down their fans at home.

For Northwest's part, Lucy Bivens tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Bivens has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Campbell Kloack was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Madi Dixon was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Marshall's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2. As for Northwest, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will face off against Holt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holt will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Marshall surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northwest, they will head out on the road to square off against Leslie at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
