Basketball Recap: FAU High Owls vs. Pine Crest Panthers
The FAU High Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were beaten by Pine Crest 83-30. FAU High was down 68-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
FAU High lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andrew Chamberlain, who scored nine points.
Pine Crest was led to victory by Rowan Hoffman and Dylan Wigoda. Hoffman scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Wigoda scored 24 points. Hoffman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kareem Khouri, who scored 12 points.
FAU High dropped their record down to 1-20 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Pine Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. FAU High is on the road again on Friday and plays the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Somerset Academy - Canyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Owls like a good challenge. As for Pine Crest, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
