Softball Recap: Sylvan Hills Beats Little Rock Christian Academy for Their Sixth Straight Win

Sylvan Hills had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Little Rock Christian Academy Warriors a 15-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Zamari Ball - 2026 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Abbie Mayden - 2026 and Kinley Mitchell - 2026 did most of the damage at the plate: Mayden - 2026 went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Mitchell - 2026 went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Mitchell - 2026 a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Overman - 2025, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Sylvan Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Sylvan Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Little Rock Christian Academy, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Sylvan Hills will challenge rival Beebe at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bears 1.8, the Badgers 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Little Rock Christian Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
