Basketball Game Preview: DeSoto Eagles vs. Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes

DeSoto is 0-10 against Duncanville since December of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The DeSoto Eagles will welcome the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, DeSoto narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Waxahachie 60-57. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Cameren Paul was the offensive standout of the match as he posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Duncanville entered their tilt with Skyline on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 84-41 win over the Raiders. The game marked the Panthers and Pantherettes' most dominant victory of the season.

Duncanville found their leader in sophomore Beckham Black, who went 5 for 8 en route to 15 points. Black is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kayden Edwards, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Duncanville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Duncanville pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.7 points per game. As for DeSoto, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Things could have been worse for DeSoto, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 84-69 loss to Duncanville when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
