MAIS AA District 2 recap October 8, 2013

Oak Hill Academy took down Manchester Academy 47-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Raiders led MAIS AA District 2 in scoring this week by notching 47 points on the Mavericks.

Lafayette Wales provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Canton Academy lost to Tri-County Academy. Wales' key target this week was Gerrod Anderson, who caught 3 passes for 25 yards.

Wales was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Panthers fell to the Rebels. He nabbed 1 interception.

Houston Persac and Wales gave Canton Academy a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Persac threw for 61 yards, while Wales ran for 95 yards. Teammate Kraft McLean added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.

Oak Hill Academy's Riley Pierce and Curt Huffman have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Pierce has thrown for 459 yards this season, while Huffman has 8 catches for 264 yards. Wales from Ron Jurney's team leads the league in rushing with 831 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Winston Academy takes on Tri-County Academy. As it stands, the Patriots are in fifth, while David Blount's team is in first.

The Panthers fell 15-13 to the Rebels in the closest game of the week. Wales ran for 95 yards in the loss.
