Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Anderson County

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Anderson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Sweetwater Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Mavericks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Reece Wilkerson was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Lowe, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Anderson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Anderson County's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Sweetwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season.

Anderson County will face off against Carter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sweetwater, they will take on Webb at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
