Sullivan is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Indian Creek Braves at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Saturday just wasn't the day for Sullivan's offense. They lost 11-0 to Marshall on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Golden Arrows' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Sullivan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Newton, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Indian Creek came up short against Franklin Community on Monday, falling 15-8.
Delaney Jones put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kristen Soots was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Jasmine Day was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Indian Creek's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Sullivan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Sullivan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Indian Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Sullivan's way against Indian Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sullivan made off with a 15-3 win. Do the Golden Arrows have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
