Recap: Wellsboro Hornets vs. Mansfield Tigers
The Wellsboro Hornets won against the Mansfield Tigers on Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Wellsboro managed a 46-40 win over Mansfield. The victory was familiar territory for Wellsboro who now have three in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karson Dominick, who scored 20 points. Dominick scored a full 50% of Mansfield's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Shaw, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Wellsboro pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Mansfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Wellsboro will look to defend their home court on Monday against Jersey Shore at 7:30 p.m. Jersey Shore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while Wellsboro is ranked 283rd). Mansfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wyalusing Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Wyalusing Valley is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
