Basketball Recap: Southside Comes Up Short

Southside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cherokee County Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Warriors are ranked 49th).

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Cherokee County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southside will venture away from home to challenge Etowah at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cherokee County, they will head out to take on Boaz at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
