Softball Game Preview: Reading Memorial Rockets vs. Westford Academy Grey Ghosts

The Reading Memorial Rockets will head out to face off against the Westford Academy Grey Ghosts at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Reading Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Westford Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Reading Memorial's win against Lexington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets skirted past the Minutemen 8-7. Eight seems to be a good number for the Rockets as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Westford Academy never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cambridge Rindge & Latin on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-10 margin over the Falcons. The win continues a trend for the Grey Ghosts in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Grace Janowsky was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Felicani, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Westford Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Reading Memorial's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Westford Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
